The Perfect YACHT for Cruising the Italian Coast

A GROOVY HISTORY…

Our family have always named our motor boats Groovy, and there have been five of them over a period of 60 years. The first beloved Groovy was a wooden single engine Posilippo (similar to the Riva Tritone) that our father, Mitia Guerrini-Maraldi purchased during the hippy period of the 60’s, when the word “groovy” was in vogue. In 1976, Dad made the plunge and acquired Groovy Two, a classic Riva Aquarama.  An iconic boat, which attracted massive attention around the blue waters of the Argentario and Hotel Pellicano. The beautiful Groovy Two was often photographed by Slim Aaron’s for his Italian portfolio. We had Groovy Two throughout the 80’s and 90’s, but my brother and I badgered our father with the proverbial “we need a bigger boat” as the family expanded along came Groovy Three, a Sunseeker Tomahawk 42. This boat never quite made the grade as she was too noisy and awkward to manoeuvre coming into port. The following year she was replaced by Groovy Four, a Sunseeker Superhawk 48. This wonderful sporty boat gave us 20 years of pleasure with friends and family endless lunches, swimming and loads of fun. Change was looming and after much research we decided to embrace the splendour of Italian design again and finally settled on the classic hull and style of the ITAMA 60, our Groovy V today.
